Lake Wilderness Arboretum Introduces New Kid-Friendly Map
On your next trip to Lake Wilderness Arboretum, make sure to stop by our kiosk and check out the new map, created by artist and friend of the Arboretum Lei Rogala, who volunteered to draw the fun, kid-friendly version of our non-profit public garden with input from Garden Manager Susan Goodell among others.
“I thought it would be fun to have a kid’s map of the Arboretum,” Lei says. “I enjoy being able to create functional art and would love to pursue other opportunities for maps or educational artwork.”
A frequent volunteer at the Arboretum’s Wednesday garden work parties, Lei also managed the first Student Art Contest in 2013. She has created maps and educational artwork for teachers at Lake Wilderness Elementary. She recently began working at the Green River Community College Foundation on the Interurban Center for the Arts program, which provides training, support and educational materials to volunteers who lead art lessons at local classrooms as part of the organization’s Art Docent Program. “I love the additional opportunities and engagement in activities that it gives to students.”
Fantastic, Lei – and thank you for the beautiful work of art!
